Well this is unexpected isn't it? I haven't blogged on here since 2013, why am I talking now? Well I'll tell you why, I'm a gamer, and this stuff matters to me (as I'm sure it does to some of you too) For those who aren't following E3, Marvel has announced a new Spider-Man game slated to drop sometime in the future, it has no official name as of yet, and we know very little about it apart from it being put together by Insomniac Games. And.... it's exclusive to PS4.
Here is the Trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv3NIP…
As you can guess from the title of this blog, I'm not exactly pleased with it's exclusivity.
I've been dying for a new Spider-Man game since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 amazed us with it's incompetence and needlessly frustrating "Hero/Menace" mechanic that had a police force created to stop vigilante justice, punishing you for not doing vigilante justice. Makes perfect sense to me I don't know about you...
And now I finally get my wish, but on a console I don't own. Thanks Marvel, you jerks...
I can see the comments already "Well then you should have gotten a PS4 you n00b!!11!" That's not the point! Why should
I have to get a PS4 to play a series that's been cross platform since 2000?! Excuse me
for not having enough disposable income to buy a second
console just to play one game.
I think this is a mistake, not because I
don't get to play it, but because I want Marvel to be able to compete with DC in the gaming scene, and Spider-Man being shackled to the PS4 will not
help. Not when DC's offerings are cross platform. (Except for that Batman VR thing. )
If you think this is stupid and Spidey should be released on all consoles not just Sony, there is a petition, I doubt it'll change anything, but I'll link it anyway: www.change.org/p/insomniac-gam…
What are your thoughts on this? Should Spider-Man be a Sony exclusive? Or should Marvel consider Xbox and PC gamers too?
